Home Office and Scottish Executive. (2007). UK Action Plan on Tackling Human Trafficking. 114 p. This year marks the bicentenary of the legal abolition of the slave trade in the former British Empire. Whilst a number of events are taking place to commemorate this event, we are faced with another challenge 200 years after the slave trade was legally abolished - how we tackle trafficking in human beings and the misery that it causes. This modern form of slavery is an evil practice perpetrated for profit with no regard for the personal or societal consequences. We are committed to tackling this crime and addressing the harms caused. This Action Plan provides an opportunity to draw together all the work that is already underway but also to set out what else we plan to do. The intention is that the Action Plan will be a living document which will be updated annually. http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/documents/human-traffick-action-plan?view=Binary |
